What began as a frightening situation on a busy road ended in joyful reunion after a little dog named Ellie was rescued from traffic and returned safely to her family.

The drama unfolded when Ben spotted the small dog darting dangerously between cars. Without hesitation, he rushed in to save her. The dog had no collar or tag, so Ben quickly phoned his father for help.

Together, they borrowed a leash from a nearby U-Wash ‘Em Dog Wash and hurried to the closest veterinary clinic—arriving just 20 minutes before closing time.

Only one vet tech was still on duty, but she immediately stepped in to assist. A scan revealed Ellie had a microchip, but to everyone’s dismay, it wasn’t registered.

Undeterred, the vet tech phoned the clinic that had originally implanted the chip. That call made all the difference—the clinic had Ellie’s owners on file.

Within minutes, Ellie’s family arrived at the vet’s office, overjoyed and in tears as they embraced their lost dog. “We were so scared we’d never see her again,” one of Ellie’s moms said. “We can’t thank everyone enough.”

The family promised to register the microchip with the state agency, ensuring Ellie can always be identified in the future.

For Ben and his father, the evening was a reminder of the power of community, quick action, and a little persistence. For Ellie, it meant a second chance at safety and love.

“It was the best way to start the weekend—with a happy ending,” Ben’s father said.
