Statue of King Menkaure and His Queen

The statue, made of gray schist and standing about 139.5 cm high, is currently on display at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. It was unearthed in the valley temple of King Menkaure at Giza.
The composition shows the king and queen standing side by side. Menkaure is portrayed with youthful vitality, striding forward with a slender physique and finely detailed chest and limbs.
He wears the traditional shendyt kilt, the nemes headdress, and a false beard, symbols of his royal authority. Beside him, the queen is depicted in a close-fitting robe and a wig, gently embracing the king.
His head is slightly tilted to the right, while her face is positioned just in front of his, as though presenting him to the world, embodying both her supportive role and the sense of confidence and strength she imparts to him.
