💔 A Father’s Sacrifice for His Son

In the heart of Beijing, among the rush of subway commuters, a young father named Xia Jun from Sichuan province has chosen one of the most painful ways to fight for his child’s life. Wearing a white shirt with bold red letters reading “Living Punching Bag”, Xia stands outside a crowded metro station, offering himself up for strangers to hit. Each punch costs just over one US dollar — money he desperately needs to pay for his 2-year-old son’s medical treatment.

Next to him is a cardboard box covered in medical records — proof of his son Guo Guo’s battle with leukemia, diagnosed last year. Since then, Xia and his wife have moved to Beijing to stay close to hospitals and treatment. The family has already spent 700,000 yuan (about $114,000) — borrowing from friends, relatives, and even selling their home. Yet doctors say they still need another 400,000 yuan ($65,000) for further treatment.

So far, Xia has managed to raise around 10,000 yuan ($1,600) this way. Some people stop to donate, touched by his devotion, while others remain skeptical of his method. But Xia admits he thought long and hard about it — even considered begging — before deciding that this unusual act might draw more attention and support.

“Every father has his own way of protecting his child,” Xia says softly. “This is mine.”

Despite the bruises he endures, Xia’s determination shines through. His sacrifice is not about pride or pain — it is about love, hope, and the will to save his son’s life.
