This copper-alloy bust of Pharaoh Amenemhat III was discovered in the Hawara necropolis at Faiyum, Egypt. Dating to the Middle Kingdom, 12th Dynasty (1843–1798 BCE), it now belongs to the private collection of George Ortiz.

Pharaoh Amenemhat III, one of the most prominent rulers of Egypt’s Middle Kingdom, reigned during the 12th Dynasty around 1859–1813 BCE.

His reign is often regarded as a golden age of prosperity and stability, marked by extensive building projects, including the construction of impressive temples, fortresses, and the famous “Labyrinth” at Hawara.

Amenemhat III also oversaw major developments in irrigation and land reclamation, particularly in the Faiyum region, which greatly strengthened Egypt’s agricultural wealth.

Celebrated for his leadership and vision, he is remembered as one of the most powerful and influential pharaohs of the Middle Kingdom.
