👩👧 Walking Lessons 👩👧
This morning, people saw my 10-year-old walking to school, with me just a few steps behind. Some stared, some whispered, some even questioned why. Here’s the truth:
She had forgotten how to speak with respect. She mistook her growing size for authority. She crossed a line—and I knew it was my moment to step in.
So she walked. 🚶♀️ Not out of cruelty, not to shame her, but to teach her. To remind her that rides are earned, respect is required, and I am her mother—not just her buddy.
All the while, I stayed close, making sure she was safe. But I didn’t shield her from discomfort. Because I’m not afraid of my child being angry at me—I’m afraid of raising her without accountability.
Parenting isn’t about being the “fun” parent or the “liked” parent. It’s about guiding children into adulthood with humility, empathy, and respect. ❤️
One day, she’ll understand. And maybe, just maybe, she’ll thank me.
