Forever 12: Remembering Sadie Murata
Eight years have passed, yet the memory of Sadie Murata still feels as bright and close as if she were just here yesterday. Forever 12, she remains in the hearts of everyone who knew her—a friend, a daughter, a light that left this world too soon.
In March 2017, during an interview with a local news station, Sadie was asked a question most adults struggle to answer: What is your philosophy on life? Without hesitation, she gave an answer that stopped people in their tracks.
“Life is something that you were gifted,” she said, her voice clear and steady. “And you are supposed to use that gift wisely. So use it right now, because you never know what tomorrow will bring.”
They were words spoken by a 12-year-old, but they carried the weight of someone far older, someone who understood how fleeting time can be. In that moment, Sadie showed a wisdom that continues to guide those she left behind.
Her family and friends carry her message with them daily. Every sunrise is a reminder. Every laugh, every memory, every chance to choose kindness over anger or gratitude over complaint is another way of honoring her. For Sadie, life was never something to be taken for granted—it was something to be lived fully, wisely, and with love.
Today, on the 8th anniversary of her passing, we honor her words as much as her life. We hold on to the advice she gave, living it out 365 days a year. We remember her not only for the joy she brought, but also for the legacy she left in just 12 short years.
Sadie may no longer walk among us, but her voice still echoes. Her light still shines. And her message—use the gift of life wisely, because tomorrow is never promised—will continue to inspire generations.
Forever 12. Forever loved. Forever remembered.
