Ohio Couple Welcomes Twins on Their Shared Birthday

For most couples, sharing a birthday is a quirky coincidence. For Scierra Blair and her fiancé José Ervin of Ohio, it has now become an extraordinary family tradition — as they welcomed fraternal twins on their own birthday.

On August 18, just after midnight, the couple celebrated the arrival of their son, José Ervin III (12:35 a.m.), and daughter, Ar’ria Lannette Ervin (12:36 a.m.), at Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital. The twins made an early debut, arriving nearly two weeks before their due date, but right on time to share the special occasion with their parents.

The remarkable timing wasn’t an accident. Doctors advised a cesarean section after discovering one of the babies was breech, but with no immediate risks to mother or children, the couple requested the surgery be delayed until after midnight.

Ervin told People magazine:

“Since she was in good health and wasn’t stressed, and the kids were in good health and weren’t stressed, I thought, ‘Why not wait?’”
For Ervin, who turned 31, and Blair, who turned 32, the twins were the “best birthday present ever.” He admitted he’s already a doting father:

“They were my birthday present and I’m good with that. I’m so stoked. I kiss them like 30,000 times a day.”
Both parents come from families with a history of twins, so while the double blessing wasn’t a total shock, its timing made it unforgettable.

The couple already joked about sharing their birthday when they first met. Ervin recalls being skeptical until Blair showed him her ID:

“I thought she was telling a tale… but she proved me wrong.”
Now, instead of two celebrations, the Ervin-Blair family will have one grand annual birthday party — complete with cake, candles, and gifts for all four.

As Blair teased her fiancé:

“It was bad enough that I have to spend my birthday with you.”
But Ervin had the last word:

“Our kids being born on our birthday — that’s unique. All of us celebrating together, that’s beautiful.”
