THE LOYALTY OF MAX

For twelve years, the postal worker walked his route without fail. Rain, snow, or blistering summer sun, he delivered letters and packages with quiet dedication. And every single day, at the same time and the same spot, Max was waiting for him.
Max, an old dog with kind eyes, never missed the chance to greet his friend. With a stick in his mouth and a tail wagging furiously, he made the ordinary routine feel special. To the mailman, it wasn’t just another stop—it was a moment of joy, a reminder that loyalty and friendship can be found in the most unexpected places.
Then one morning, the fence was empty. No wagging tail, no stick offered proudly. Days went by, and still Max didn’t appear. The silence where he once stood was heavy and strange.
A week later, the dog’s owner quietly approached the mailman. In her hands was a small, framed photograph of Max. Beneath it, a note written in simple words that carried the weight of a lifetime:
“He waited for you every day. You were his favorite part of it.”
The mailman held the frame close, realizing that in all those years, what had seemed like a small daily greeting had actually meant the world to a faithful dog. And perhaps, to him too.
